12 Feb

Could your school record be holding you back? Looking at the most popular post year 11 choices for young people in the UK, we explored if and how a school record may be detrimental to a pupil’s future.

Sixth form and further education colleges:
Your secondary school is likely to pass your records onto your sixth form school or college however this is often done after a pupil has been accepted into an institution and in this case the student is unlikely to be removed based on their school record.
Apprenticeships and training courses:
Your school record will not be taken into account or accessed if you are applying for an apprenticeship. You will need to supply the organisation or individual you are working with your GCSE or equivalent grades.
Employment:
An employer has no right to access your school records. You can refuse to show them your records if they ask to see it.
Army/marines:
If you are wanting to join the army or marines after you finish school, you wont have to show them your school record- it is notable however to mention that they do have the right to check you for a criminal records.
